Privacy Agreement

Scope

This agreement covers the Chrome Web Store distribution of MediaSwift and addresses Chrome Web Store disclosure requirements.

Data We Collect

• Optional anonymous analytics for diagnostics: events such as opening the popup, granting permissions, or encountering extraction errors. Data is de-identified (browser family, toggle states, host name only, status/error codes, short non-sensitive error snippets). No personal identifiers, full URLs, or media contents are collected.
• Local download history and settings: file name, completion timestamp, originating host, browser download identifier, layout preferences, analytics consent flag. Stored only within Chrome’s extension storage on your device.

How We Use Data

• Troubleshoot crashes and compatibility issues specific to Chromium-based browsers.
• Provide convenience features like Download History, “Open Folder”, remembering preferred quality, and respecting your consent choices.

Legal Basis (GDPR)

• Anonymous analytics: processed only when you opt in; consent can be revoked anytime from Options.
• Local storage of history and preferences: necessary to deliver requested functionality and protected by our legitimate interests in diagnostics and abuse prevention.

Permissions Explained

• storage: persist options, consent state, and download history locally.
• activeTab: access the current tab after a user gesture to read metadata needed for generating download jobs.
• downloads / downloads.open: initiate browser-managed downloads and open completed files on demand.
• declarativeNetRequest: modify headers for specific media requests to ensure playback compatibility; never used for ad blocking or tracking.
• contextMenus: add quick actions such as “Open Download History”.
• offscreen: allow FFmpeg WASM to merge audio and video in an offscreen document without blocking the active tab.
• Host permissions: limited to the sites enumerated in the Chrome Web Store listing. The CWS build excludes domains that the store policies restrict, and the Extension does not provide download capabilities for those domains.

Chrome Web Store Disclosures

• Categories collected (CWS form): app activity (optional analytics); diagnostics (optional analytics). No location, personal info, or financial data.
• Data handling: anonymized, not used for ads, not sold, and not shared with unrelated third parties.
• Review compliance: analytics toggle available within Options; Do Not Track is honored by disabling analytics automatically. The public privacy policy URL is this page.

Third-Party Services

Optional telemetry may be processed by an analytics vendor such as Google Analytics. No downloaded files, browsing history, or personal data are uploaded.

Data Sharing & Selling

We do not sell user data. We do not share personal data with third parties outside of legal obligations or protection of rights.

Storage & Retention

• Local data stays on your device until you clear it or uninstall the Extension.
• Analytics events follow the retention policy of the analytics provider and are kept in aggregate form.

Your Choices

• Disable analytics anytime in Options; we immediately stop sending telemetry.
• Clear Download History through the in-extension controls.
• Remove the Extension from Chrome to stop all processing.

Do Not Track

When Chrome signals “Do Not Track”, we treat it as a request to disable analytics.

DRM & Terms of Service

The Extension does not circumvent DRM or technical protection measures. It only supports publicly accessible streams on the sites listed in the Chrome Web Store entry. You must follow each site’s terms of service and applicable laws.

Security

• Local data is kept in Chrome-managed extension storage; analytics traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.
• The Extension bundles all parsing logic and FFmpeg WASM; it does not fetch or execute remote code.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may request access, correction, or deletion of data. For local data, use the built-in controls or uninstall the Extension. For analytics-related requests, contact us and we will assist.

Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy for the CWS version and will record significant updates alongside any notice required by Chrome Web Store policies or applicable law.
